Fue una banda de Crossover Thrash formada por el guitarrista de Anthrax Scott Ian, el vocalista de M.O.D. Billy Milano, el bajista de Nuclear Assault y Anthrax Dan Lilker y el baterista de Anthrax Charlie Benante, bueno ya nombrados los integrantes, la mayoria de Anthrax, la banda se llama Strormtroopers of Death, como abreviacion S.O.D.

Scott Ian, realizando dibujos, creó al Sargento D, donde escribía eslógan y letras sobre él... tanto fue su fanatísmo, que formó la banda inspirándose en él.

Su primer disco Speak english or die, un disco polémico por ser "políticamente incorrecto", ya que sus temas tratan asuntos sexistas y racistas en forma humorística, aunque en comentarios de algunos de sus miembros dicen que las letras de S.O.D son en broma, que ellos no son racistas.

Con el sello de Nuclear Blast Records graban este disco.
